Scott Court: Coach Court here, just wanted to say hello and tell you a little bit about myself.  My parents were educators; my mother was a fabulous history teacher and my dad was the athletic director at the same high school back in CNY.  As a matter of fact they named the new high school gym in my father’s name.

I wanted to be like my parents so I decided to major in education at Indiana State University. I was lucky to be there at the same time Larry Bird played basketball for #No. 1 ranked ISU Sycamores.  It was an exciting time to say the least for all of us ISU students until Magic Johnson and Michigan State beat us in the final game of the NCAA tournament.  

Anyway, I got married, lived in the Bahamas for a while and eventually moved to the Clear Lake area to start a family. I worked for the Four Seasons and Omni Hotel Corporation in Houston before I began to teach. I have four children, three girls and a boy who are all adults now. Deanne my oldest is the assistant dance director at Clear Lake High School.  Jackie, my second is in public relations in Houston. Courtney who just had my second grandson is a nurse. John my son is getting his certification in Instrumentation at COM. 

I’ve been a P.E. teacher and Coach for 26 years with G.I.S.D.

I first started out at Central as a computer literacy teacher for 2 years then at Weis beginning in 1995 where Melvin Bouldin, Manuel Garza, Gary “Hunk” Smith and I first met and started coaching together.  Then I taught PE at Austin Middle School before returning to Weis in 2023. I’m proud and grateful to be working here with such an Owlsome team of teachers, administrators, and support staff.  A sobering note -You know you’re getting older when the students you taught years ago have children that you teach now! Where does the time go?

Amanda Gaido: Hi, my name is Amanda Gaido and I teach Physical Education at Weis Middle School. I have been teaching with Galveston ISD since January of 2001. I've taught Second Grade, Elementary Physical Education, and Technology. I graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. I was born and raised here, on beautiful Galveston Island, and am a 1995 graduate of Ball High School. I live on the Island with my wonderful husband and our four amazing children! I love spending time with my family, being outdoors and traveling!
